5 signs you've outgrown your Squarespace site
I recommend Squarespace all the time. For a new business that needs a clean, credible site fast, it's hard to beat. But it's a starting line, not a finish line — and a few tell-tale signs mean you've outgrown it.
1. You're copying enquiries into a spreadsheet by hand. The moment you're maintaining your own 'CRM' in a spreadsheet, the site has stopped helping and started making work.
2. You want to follow up automatically and can't. Drip emails, reminders, 'you left something behind' nudges — these need real automation the template can't reach.
3. Booking and payments are held together with third-party bolt-ons that don't quite talk to each other, so you're reconciling by hand.
4. You need customer accounts or a members area — somewhere people log in to see their bookings, orders or documents.
5. The site can't answer 'where did this month's leads come from?' Once you need real reporting, you need real infrastructure.
If two or more of these sound familiar, you don't necessarily need to rip everything up — but it's worth costing out a build that removes the manual work for good.
